Bible

This royal manuscript from the court of Anjou in Naples was made in 1340. It ended up in Leuven in the 16th century after passing through France. The Latin Bible containing 344 folios in goat parchment is important for the study of Italian art history and the cultural history of Southern Italy. The beautiful miniatures are by Cristophoro Orimina. The Anjou Bible recently underwent conservation treatment, and detailed digital photos were made of each page. It has been officially recognized as a masterpiece by the Flemish Community. [Flandrica]
